Dr. Bauer
In several countries, children now begin learning computer programming in elementary school, sometimes as early as age six. Supporters say coding teaches logical thinking and prepares children for future jobs. Others believe young children should focus on basic skills such as reading, writing, and math. Should elementary schools teach programming? Why or why not?
Mei
Yes. Programming teaches children to break big problems into small steps, which helps in every subject. My little brother learned simple coding with colorful blocks, and he became much more patient when solving math problems.
Jonas
I disagree. Children already spend too much time in front of screens. Elementary schools should concentrate on reading and math, because without those basic skills, children won't be able to learn programming properly later anyway.
