Textbooks for university courses can be very expensive, sometimes costing hundreds of dollars per semester. Some universities now encourage professors to use free online materials instead, such as open-access textbooks and videos. Should universities replace printed textbooks with free online materials? Why or why not?
Ethan
Definitely. I spent almost four hundred dollars on books last semester. Free online materials would make university fairer for students who don't have much money, and they can be updated more easily than printed books.
Priya
I'm not sure. I find it much harder to concentrate when I read on a screen, and I remember more from printed pages. Also, free materials are not always as carefully written and checked as published textbooks.
