DEPARTMENT PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION - THIS IS NOT AN ART PRIZE
Entries close on 30 November. One image per person. Every photograph must have been taken during your own research or fieldwork. We are not judging composition. The panel is looking for the picture that best explains something to somebody outside the department, and last year's winner was a badly lit photograph of a cracked sample holder. Send the image and forty words of explanation. The forty words matter more than the image and are the reason most entries are rejected: an entry that only describes what is in the frame will not be considered. Winning pictures go on the corridor wall for a year and into the open day booklet. The prize is a hundred pounds of departmental credit, which cannot be taken as cash.
22. According to the poster, why are most entries rejected?
