A former parking lot on Jackson Street has been turned into a community garden with forty wooden planting boxes. Residents can rent a box for $25 a season and grow their own vegetables and flowers. The project was paid for by the city and by a local hardware store, which also donated tools and soil. “All the boxes were rented in the first week,” said organizer Tom Becker. A waiting list has already been started for next year.
