We open on the first and third Wednesday of the month, from seven until ten, between October and March. Cloud cancels the viewing but not the evening. If the sky is closed we run the talk in the lecture room instead, and the dome stays shut. The decision is made at five and posted on the department page, so check before you set out. The last part of the path has no lighting, by design, because a bright approach spoils the eyes of everyone already inside. Bring a light with a red filter, or borrow one at the gate. Children are welcome with an adult. The stairs to the dome are steep and there is no lift, but the talk and the small telescopes on the terrace are reached on the level.
