Subject: Field trip — what changes now that we are going in April
Dear all, The Snowdonia trip has moved from November to the first week of April. Two things follow from that. First, the ground will be wetter, not drier. The exercise on slope stability depends on the soil being saturated, so April is in fact better for us; but boots that were fine in a dry autumn will not be fine now. Second, the hostel charges a lower rate outside the summer season, which means the trip costs less than the figure in your handbook. Nobody needs to do anything about this. The difference will be credited automatically. Best, Dr F. Delacroix
