PRINT CREDIT - WHAT CHANGES IN JANUARY
Every student receives twenty pounds of print credit a year instead of a page allowance.
The reason is that the old allowance counted pages and ignored colour, so a hundred colour pages and a hundred black ones cost the department very different amounts and cost you the same. A credit in money makes the difference visible at the moment you choose.
Credit does not roll over into the following year, and it cannot be transferred between students. If you run out, you may add your own money at any machine.
One consequence worth stating. Double-sided printing now costs less than single-sided for the same number of pages, which was not true under the old system, and most people will find twenty pounds goes further than the allowance did.
