LOST PROPERTY - HOW IT WORKS NOW
Everything handed in goes to the porters' lodge in Bramley Court, not to the building where it was found. Items are logged with a description and the date. To claim something, describe it before you are shown it. This is not distrust; it is the only method that works, because three people a week come to the lodge convinced that a black umbrella is theirs. We keep ordinary items for six weeks and anything with a name or a card in it for a term, and we will email you if we can identify the owner from the contents. Keys are the exception. Because a lost key is a security matter as well as an inconvenience, keys are sent to the estates office on the day they arrive and are never held at the lodge.
